Table Editing

Please stick to the table format that we use in all of the other pages for translations. This is to keep things fairly uniform over all the projects rather than have a mish-mash of confusing and non-conforming styles.

Header

Please start off the table with:

Furigana

For the full Japanese with kanji transcripts of the drama CD we will need to provide furigana for the kanji words for ease of reading.

The format of the furigana tool tip tag is:

Whole Word

Ensure that the whole word is represented with the furigana including any trailing hiragana. For verb conjugations please also include the conjugated part.

For example:

Translating

Style

As a guiding principle the English we write should be grammatically correct, free of obscenities, be of common usage and hopefully does not have too many double or triple negatives.

For example:

• Translations not macaronic are not of particular diswant.

Would be better off as:

• Translations mixing languages are not particularly wanted.

Punctuation

Please conform to standard English punctuation styles:

• Two spaces after a full stop (period.)
• Quotes: "This is not normal," he said.
• Use commas sparingly.

Honorifics

We don't need to translate the -san, -chan, -sama, etc., honorifics; we can directly use them in the English translations. However, remember to put a dash to seperate the honorific in English only, to provide a bit of clarity.

For example:

• 秋子さん as Akiko-san
• 徳川どの as Tokugawa-dono
• エイミちゃんさま as Eimi-chan-sama

Cultural Words

I believe we should be relieved from translating the following words, out of simplicity and should just use the romaji:

• オタク／ヲタク／ヲタ otaku
• もえ／萌え moe

After all, anyone looking at these drama CD translations should probably already know what those words are.
